What are composite veneers?
Composite dental veneers are one of the most demanded treatments in dentistry. Its popularity is due to society’s growing concern for a harmonious, aligned, bright and natural smile.
Composite veneers are made using a resin, composite, which closely mimics the shade of the teeth. Composite dental veneers allow us to correct small dental defects with which we are not satisfied, such as size, position and/or color.
They are used to solve crooked teethspaces between them, crowding of teeth, stained or stained teethstained or discolored teeth, etc.
At Janer&Herraiz Orthodontics we have a specialist in dental aesthetics, Dr. Joan Gubau, known for his great mastery of composite veneers. The placement of composite veneers requires a lot of precision and the details make the difference between a good result or not.
Advantages of composite veneers
- Price. Composite veneers are less expensive than porcelain veneers.
- Ease of repair. Composite veneers can be reconstructed in the same dental center without the need to send them to an external laboratory for repair, as is the case with porcelain veneers.
- Shades. Composite is a material that mimics the natural white color of the tooth very well.
- Quick and painless placement.
Disadvantages of composite veneers
- The color and brightness are lost with the passage of time, so it is necessary to visit the dentist to polish them and keep them in good condition.
- Duration. They last a maximum of five years, as long as follow-ups with the dentist are carried out.
How to care for composite dental veneers
- Perform maintenance check-ups to check the condition of the veneers and polish them if necessary to preserve their esthetic properties for a longer period of time.
- Moderate the consumption of staining or yellowing foods (e.g. coffee, tea, red wine, red fruits, etc.).
- Avoid smoking as it affects the color of the veneers, so we should avoid smoking as much as possible.
- Maintain good oral hygiene.
- Avoid habits such as biting your nails, chewing on pens or opening things with your teeth that could break the veneers.
Veneers and Orthodontics
Orthodontic treatment cannot be carried out while wearing veneers, so they will have to be removed in order to move the teeth. Once the treatment is completed and the teeth are in the proper position, new veneers can be planned and placed.
At Janer&Herraiz our specialists in Orthodontics and Aesthetics work together to plan your invisible orthodontic treatment and dental aesthetics.
